hi everyone today i'm going to guide you through ashtava krasna the eight angle prose now just to clarify that this is usually a peak pose in a yoga practice often towards the end of a practice when the body is nice and warmed up i won't be guiding you through a warm-up today i'm just going to show you the pose so that you can play with it and practice when it appears in a class with your teacher or in your own practice so i like to come into this pose from a seated position placing the opposite hand to the foot and same hand as the foot is basically your your index finger and thumb is framing your achilles tendon at the heel raise your leg high and try to snuggle your shoulder as far under the knee or the knee pit as you can then from here your hand comes down to the mat so try to get that hand in line with the hips not too close to the hip you want a solid foundation really pull the foot down to lock the arm underneath the knee keep this foot strong and flexed your other hand comes down next to you and then cross the feet locking the feet into place so you'll notice my feet here are both flexed and there's a lot happening tilt the body forward and just see if you can lift the buttocks up off the ground maybe a little bit of a swing see how that feels and then when you're ready tilting down lowering the chest down towards the ground as you extend the legs out so you're really extending it's not a fast kicking action and then try to lower the chest down towards the floor as much as you can you'll notice there will be a tendency here for your bottom leg to bend and lower and that actually makes the pose a lot harder so try to keep that leg strong lower the chest down and you can look towards the feet enjoy namaste check out the link in the description below for our online teacher trainings we have a very popular and amazing online yin yoga teacher training 50 hours internationally accredited with yoga alliance and completely self-paced so you can learn in your own time and when it suits you we also have upcoming 200 hour yoga teacher training so you can check out our website for further information on that we look forward to meeting you in person very soon
