of two words. Chandra and Bhedana. The Sanskrit word Chandra means Moon, and
it refers to Ida Nadi. Bhedana has three meanings: ‘secret,’
‘discrimination’ and ‘to pierce.’ Chandra Bhedana Pranayama
is also known as moon-piercing breath. Significance of Chandra Bhedana Pranayama This pranayama pierces Ida Nadi and fills
it with, shakti by breathing in through the left nostril and exhaling though the right
nostril only. In this way, there is a predominant stimulation
of the parasympathetic nervous system and right brain hemisphere. What are the Benefits of Chandra Bhedana Pranayama? Benefits of Chandra Bhedana Pranayama Chandra Bhedana Pranayama Creates mental introversion

correctly? How to do Chandra Bhedana Pranayama? To practice, Chandra Bhedana Pranayama sit
in any comfortable posture like Vajrasana (Adamantine Pose / Thunderbolt pose)
Padmasana (Lotus Pose) Any cross-legged posture ( sukhasana/ Ardhapadmasana/
siddhasana) with a straight spine. You can take a cushion or yoga block to elevate
your hips slightly. This will help you keep your spine straight. In case if you cannot sit in any of these
postures then simply sit on the chair with a straight spine. prefer which is comfortable for you. Place the hands on the knees in desired hand
mudras. If you want to learn all the details about

tab. Close the eyes and relax the whole body. When the body is comfortable and still, be
aware of the breath. Now Create Nasagra Mudra
Move your right hand in front of the face. Now Place the tips of the index and middle
fingers gently in between the eyebrows. Both fingers should be relaxed. Now move the thumb just above the right nostril
and the ring finger above the left nostril. The thumb and the ring finger will control
the flow of breath in the right & the left nostrils. Keeping the little finger relaxed If you don't want to keep the index and middle
fingers in between the eyebrows. Then simply fold them and press them gently
with the base of the thumb. The thumb and the ring finger will control
the flow of breath in the right & the left nostrils. Keeping the little finger relaxed Technique 1: Chandra Anga Pranayama (Moon
part Breath) in this technique
Close the right nostril, inhaling slowly and deeply through the left. Exhale slowly through the left nostril, keeping
the right nostril closed with thethumb .
This is one round. Technique 2: with Antar Kumbhaka (Inner retention)
& Jalandhara Bandha in this technique
Close the right nostril, inhaling slowly and deeply through the left. At the end of inhalation, close both nostrils
and retain the breath inside. Bend the head forward in Jalandhara bandha
and hold the breath and the lock for as long as is comfortable. Raise the head and exhale slowly through the
right nostril. This is one round. lets do it for 5 sec pause Time Duration for Chandra Bhedana Pranayama How long you should do Chandra Bhedana Pranayama
? As a beginner practice for 10 reps , then
slowly increase the duration to 10 minutes. As the practice is mastered then introduce
the ratio of 1: 1:1 Inhale for the same duration, hold for the
same duration & then exhale for the same duration. This pranayama should only be done on an empty
stomach in the morning. During summers, practice on Brahma Muhurta. Make sure that you practice Chandra Bhedana
pranayama 4-5 hours after having your food. Practitioners should not eat right before
